Guide
How to get SOL in Solflare wallet
Solflare is installed but your balance is zero — you need SOL on mainnet before you can send micropayments or pay network fees. This guide covers three funding paths, how much to keep, and a 0.001 SOL practice roll once you are funded.
Before you add SOL
New to Solflare? Install and secure your wallet first, then return here to fund it.
- Confirm Mainnet Beta in Solflare settings — not Devnet.
- Copy your receive address — tap Receive or your wallet name; paste only the Solana address (base58, ~32–44 characters).
- Plan for fees — every on-chain send costs a small network fee on top of the payment amount. See Solana transaction fees.
Option 1 — Buy SOL inside Solflare
Solflare integrates on-ramp and swap partners in many countries:
- Open Solflare and tap Buy or Swap (wording varies by platform).
- Choose an available provider — card or bank transfer depending on region.
- Complete identity verification if prompted (KYC is required by regulated on-ramps).
- Confirm SOL lands in your wallet on mainnet.
Availability varies by country. If Buy is greyed out, use an exchange withdrawal (option 2).
Option 2 — Withdraw from an exchange
If you already hold SOL on a centralized exchange (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, etc.):
- Copy your Solflare receive address (not your recovery phrase).
- On the exchange, open Withdraw for SOL.
- Paste your Solflare address and select network Solana or SPL — never pick Ethereum, BSC, or another chain.
- Start with a small test amount if this is your first withdrawal.
- Wait for confirmations — usually under a minute on Solana — then check Solflare.
Verify the deposit with our wallet balance checker or transaction lookup tool.
Option 3 — Receive from someone else
A friend or employer can send SOL directly to your Solflare address:
- Share your public address only — never your 12-word recovery phrase.
- Ask them to send on Solana mainnet.
- After they share the transaction signature, paste it into the payment verification guide.
How much SOL should you keep?
For experimenting with micropayments:
- 0.01 SOL — comfortable starter balance for dozens of 0.001 SOL rolls plus fees.
- 0.05 SOL — room for many practice payments and a few larger rolls (up to 0.01 SOL on Garden Dice).
Network fees are tiny on Solana — typically around 0.000005 SOL per transfer — but you always need slightly more SOL than the payment amount itself. If Solflare says insufficient SOL when you pay, read how to fix insufficient funds.
Practice after funding
Once SOL shows in Solflare:
- Try the free demo roll above if you have not already.
- In the pay panel, connect Solflare or scan the Solana Pay QR on mobile.
- Approve a 0.001 SOL transfer — read the recipient and amount carefully.
- Confirm your roll on Solscan using the transaction link.

FAQ
I sent SOL but Solflare still shows zero
Check the network on the sender side (must be Solana mainnet), confirm the address matches character-for-character, and look up the withdrawal transaction on Solscan. Exchange processing can take a few minutes.
Is it safe to paste my Solflare address publicly?
Your public address is safe to share — it is like a bank account number people use to pay you. Never share your recovery phrase or private key.
Can I use devnet SOL on Garden Dice?
No. Garden Dice detects real mainnet payments only. Devnet SOL is free test currency for developers. If Solflare is on Devnet, see how to switch to mainnet.
What if Buy is not available in my country?
Use a regulated exchange that supports Solana withdrawals, or receive SOL from someone who already holds it. Some regions also support P2P marketplaces — research local rules and counterparty risk.
